Assessment Judgement

BUILDIT JUDGEMENT BASELINE

← Your profile

How do you approach messy work?

This baseline looks at how you tend to define problems, use information, prioritise, escalate, handle competing interests and adjust your position. It is context for your development profile, not a pass or fail test.

Answer as you actually work, not as you think you should work.

There are no perfect profiles. The useful signal comes from patterns across different questions and, later, how those patterns compare with your responses to practical construction scenarios.

Most questions ask what you would usually do rather than what you could theoretically do.
Some questions deliberately force a trade-off between two reasonable approaches.
Confidence is captured separately from the answer. High confidence is not automatically good or bad.
A small number of pressure checks capture how the situation feels. These are context, not a judgement score.
Your detailed responses are intended to remain private within your development record.

What this first baseline is testing

The architecture deliberately separates self-report, forced trade-offs, confidence and pressure response rather than reducing judgement to one questionnaire style.

Assessment architecture
Problem framing + information disciplineDo you define the real decision, test assumptions and know when enough information is enough?
Prioritisation + actionHow do consequence, urgency, workload and incomplete information change what you do first?
Escalation + authorityWhen do you act independently, challenge, escalate or route an issue through other stakeholders?
Commercial trade-offsHow do you balance technical position, relationships, risk, programme and the quality of the commercial decision?
Adaptability + self-awarenessHow readily do you revise a view, identify your own failure patterns and recognise when your explanation no longer fits?
Confidence + pressure contextConfidence is captured separately. Selected questions also capture discomfort or pressure so later evidence can distinguish judgement from emotional load.

Important: this baseline establishes patterns and hypotheses. It does not prove capability by itself. Later practical assessments provide the stronger demonstrated evidence by placing the member into realistic construction situations and testing how they respond as information changes.

This is not a capability score. It is a lightweight interpretation of patterns in your answers to this baseline. Your BUILDIT profile becomes more reliable as repeated practical scenario evidence is added over time.
